Today, I want to share a personal story that might resonate with many of you moms. My story is not from the perspective of a NH newborn photographer but as a new mom. It’s about those precious moments with our newborns and the authentic memories captured through photography that show our true connection with our newborn.
Picture this: It’s those early days with your newborn, and you’re bursting with love and emotion. You want to freeze those moments in time, to cherish them forever. So, like many parents, at 14 days old I took my son to a studio for his first professional photo session. We had it all planned out. The classic nude poses on the bean bag, the cute props and blankets. At the time, those pictures seemed like everything I wanted. They were cute, they were posed just right, but as time went by, I realized they lacked something crucial – authenticity. They didn’t capture the real essence of my son, or the genuine connection between us as a family.

Fast forward eight years, and those photos aren’t hanging on my walls. Why? Because they lack emotion. They’re just pictures of a baby on a bean bag or in a basket. Those photos don’t show the emotion and connection we shared in those early days. Looking back, I wish I had known about in-home newborn photo sessions.

There’s a beauty in capturing those early moments in the comfort of your own home. It’s where the magic truly happens – surrounded by the warmth of your family, free to be yourselves, and embracing the raw, unfiltered moment

In-home newborn sessions offer a unique opportunity to capture the genuine moments – the tender cuddles, the sleepy yawns, the loving gazes exchanged between parents and their precious bundle of joy. These are the moments that tell your family’s story, that evoke memories and emotions for years to come.
When you invite a photographer into your home, you create a relaxed, intimate atmosphere where your family can truly be themselves. There’s no need to worry about perfect poses or elaborate props – it’s all about capturing the beauty of your everyday life, in its purest form.
So, to all the new parents out there, I encourage you to consider an in-home NH newborn photographer when thinking about your baby’s first portraits. Take the time to capture those fleeting moments, those precious memories that will become treasured keepsakes for generations to come.

Because when it comes down to it, it’s not just about the pictures – it’s about the love, the connection, and the memories that they represent. And there’s nothing more beautiful or meaningful than that.
Ready to capture those precious moments with your newborn in the comfort of your own home? Don’t wait any longer! Schedule your in-home newborn session today. Congratulations! You’re getting closer to your wedding day! As a seasoned wedding photographer who’s been lucky enough to capture countless love stories, I’m here to help you navigate the sometimes daunting task of creating your wedding photography timeline. Trust me, with a bit of planning and a creativity, we’ll make sure every moment is beautifully captured.
Let’s kick things off by talking about why a photography timeline is so important. Picture this: it’s your wedding day, everything’s in full swing, and suddenly you realize you forgot to schedule time for those breathtaking sunset shots you’ve been dreaming about. Yikes! That’s where a well-thought-out timeline swoops in to save the day. It ensures no moment goes unnoticed, from the teary-eyed “I dos” to the dance party!
One thing I’ve discovered in my wedding photography career is the importance of thorough preparation. That’s why I make it a priority to schedule a call with each couple the week before their wedding day. During these chats, we dive deep into every aspect of the day, from the ceremony to the reception. It’s amazing how many little details can slip through the cracks in the excitement of planning, but these calls help us catch any potential hiccups before they become a reality.
This personalized approach not only helps me understand your vision better but also builds trust and collaboration. Together, we fine-tune the timeline, leaving no room for “oops” moments. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed with wedding planning, know that I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Now, let’s talk about those getting ready moments. Getting ready photos are a beautiful way to capture the anticipation and excitement leading up to the ceremony. Whether it’s buttoning up your dress or sharing a toast with your bridal party, these candid moments are pure gold.

And now for the age-old question: to first look or not to first look? It’s a decision that’s entirely up to you as a couple. Some swear by the tradition of seeing each other for the first time as you walk down the aisle, while others opt for a private moment before the ceremony to soak it all in.
If you’re on the fence, I’ve written a blog post outlining the pros and cons of a first look. Check it out here!
Let’s not forget about those special first look moments with your father or bridal party. These intimate moments can be just as emotional and memorable as the first look with your partner. Whether it’s a tearful embrace with your dad or a fun reveal with your besties, capturing these moments adds an extra layer of depth to your wedding story.

Now, onto the main event: the ceremony. This is where you’ll exchange vows, rings, and probably a tear or two (no judgment!). We’ll work together to map out the timeline, ensuring we capture all those heartfelt moments without missing a beat.

After the “I dos” comes the fun part: rounding up your nearest and dearest for some family group shots. But before you start wrangling Aunt Susan and Uncle Bob, let’s put together a shot list to ensure we don’t miss anyone.
Believe me when I say a shot list is a lifesaver. It helps us stay organized and ensures no one gets left out. Plus, it’s a handy reference for those hectic post-ceremony moments when everyone’s buzzing with excitement.

Now it’s time for just the two of you to shine. We’ll carve out some time for a romantic portrait session, capturing those intimate moments that make your love story one for the ages.
If you’re up for it, let’s schedule your portrait session during golden hour—the magical time right before sunset when the light is soft and dreamy. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

As the sun sets and the party kicks into high gear, it’s time to let loose and celebrate. From the grand entrance to the cake cutting and beyond, I’ll be there to capture every joyful moment.

One of my favorite parts of any wedding is capturing those spontaneous dance floor moments. Whether it’s Grandma busting a move or your college buddies doing the worm, these are the memories you’ll cherish forever.

Last but not least, don’t forget about the magic of night photography! Whether it’s capturing romantic shots under the moonlight or creating dramatic silhouettes against the night sky, night photography adds a touch of drama to your wedding gallery.
As much as I’d like everything to go according to plan, sometimes life has other ideas. That’s why it’s crucial to build flexibility into your timeline and have a few contingency plans up your sleeve, just in case.
Some of the most memorable wedding moments happen when things don’t go as planned. So, take a deep breath, roll with the punches, and trust that everything will work out in the end.
As your wedding day draws near, we’ll put the finishing touches on your photography timeline, making sure everyone’s on the same page. Communication is key, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any last-minute changes or questions.
With your timeline locked in and your photographer by your side, all that’s left to do is count down the days until you say “I do.” So, pop the champagne, soak in the love, and get ready for the most epic day of your lives!
In conclusion, crafting the perfect wedding photography timeline is all about communication, creativity, and a flexibility. By working closely with your photographer and staying true to your vision, you’ll create a timeline that ensures every moment is beautifully captured.

As a seasoned wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing countless love stories at some of the most beautiful venues in NH and throughout New England. However, there’s one venue that consistently fuels my passion and creativity—the Barn on the Pemi. Let me tell you why I absolutely adore photographing weddings at this inspiring and stunning venue.

ONE
When it comes to saying “I do,” the greenhouse at the Barn on the Pemi is a dream come true. Picture this: lush greenery, soft sunlight filtering through the glass, and an intimate atmosphere that sets the perfect stage for exchanging vows. The greenhouse offers an inviting backdrop for both summer garden ceremonies and cozy winter weddings.
One memorable experience was photographing a first look in the greenhouse on the coldest day of the year. Despite the cold outside, the warmth inside created an atmosphere for heartwarming and emotional photos.

TWO
Ah, the Barn—the heart and soul of the venue. This iconic structure not only exudes rustic charm but also provides endless photo opportunities. From the weathered wood to the high ceilings, every corner of the Barn tells a story. And let’s not forget about the dramatic entrance way—the red door and Peverly sign sets the stage for an unforgettable wedding.
One of my favorite memories at the barn was capturing a couple’s first dance on the second level of the Barn. Family and friends surrounded them, creating an intimate moment that beautifully captured the joy of their wedding day.

THREE
One of the standout features of the Barn on the Pemi is its stunning mountain views. This venue offers panoramic views that will take your breath away. Whether you’re exchanging vows with the mountains as your backdrop or stealing a quiet moment together during golden hour, the beauty of the surrounding landscape adds an extra touch of magic to your wedding photos.

FOUR
A venue is only as good as its staff, and let me tell you—the team at the Barn on the Pemi goes above and beyond to ensure every wedding is a success. From the moment you inquire to the last dance of the night, the staff is there with a smile. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for their couples (and vendors) make them a joy to work with.

FIVE
Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about the food! Part of the The Common Man family, the food at the Barn on the Pemi never disappoints. From mouthwatering appetizers to delectable entrees and delicious desserts, their food never disappoints. Trust me, your guests will be raving about the food long after the last dance.

The Barn on the Pemi in Plymouth, NH is more than just a wedding venue—it’s a place where love comes to life in the most beautiful ways. From the romantic greenhouse to the stunning mountain views, the timeless barn to the exceptional service and delicious food, every aspect of this venue is designed to make your wedding day unforgettable. Above all, if you’re looking for a venue that combines rustic charm with modern elegance, look no further than the Barn on the Pemi.

So, you’re gearing up for the big day, with all the excitement and planning, you’re wondering: should we do a first look before the ceremony? Well, grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine – no judgment here!) and let’s dive into the pros and cons of this pre-ceremony tradition.
What exactly is a first look? It’s pretty simple, really – it’s a private moment between you and your partner where you get to see each other dressed in your gown or tux before the ceremony. Think of it as a sneak peek before the main event.
Picture this: it’s just you and your partner, standing together in a quiet room or secluded garden, soaking in the moment. Trust me, there’s nothing quite like seeing the love and excitement in their eyes as they lay eyes on you for the first time. It’s pure magic and sooo romantic.
As a photographer, I can’t stress this enough: more time equals more epic photos. Doing a first look means we can get all those swoon-worthy couple portraits out of the way early, leaving plenty of time for group shots and maybe even some time to enjoy cocktail hour.
Let’s be real – wedding day nerves are totally normal. But having a first look can help take the edge off. Seeing your partner before the ceremony can calm those butterflies and remind you why you’re doing this whole getting-married thing in the first place.

A smooth timeline equals a stress-free day. Incorporating a first look into your schedule can help keep things running smoothly. Plus, it gives you more flexibility to enjoy every moment without feeling rushed.

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room – some folks are all about tradition, and that’s totally cool. If seeing each other before the ceremony goes against your beliefs or superstitions, it’s worth giving it some serious thought.
I’ll admit it – there’s something undeniably magical about that moment when the doors swing open, and you lock eyes with your partner for the first time. Doing a first look runs the risk of taking away some of that surprise factor, so it’s something to keep in mind.
Here’s the thing – wedding days are busy. Like, really busy. Adding a first look into the mix can sometimes make things feel even more hectic. If you’re already strapped for time, you might want to think twice about squeezing it in.
Let’s not forget about cocktail hour – aka, the time to mingle, snack, and maybe even sneak in a quick dance or two. If you keep it traditional, you might find yourself cutting into this precious socializing time, so weigh your options carefully.

This is your day, so it’s crucial to have an open and honest conversation with your partner about what you both want. Talk about your expectations, your concerns, and how you envision the day unfolding.

Believe me when I say your photographer is your wedding day MVP. I’ve seen it all and can offer valuable insights into whether a first look is right for you. Don’t be afraid to ask for a professional opinion.
At the end of the day, your wedding should be a reflection of you as a couple. Whether you choose to do a first look or not, the most important thing is that it feels true to who you are. So, go ahead – make it your own!

So, should you do a first look before your wedding ceremony? Well, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It all comes down to what feels right for you and your partner. Take some time to weigh the pros and cons, talk it out, and ultimately, trust your gut. After all, this day is all about celebrating your love and commitment to each other – however you choose to do it.
I hope this guide has helped shed some light on the first look debate and given you some food for thought as you plan your dream day. Remember, there’s no wrong answer here – just do what feels right for you, and everything else will fall into place. Happy planning!

I vividly recall the moment back in college, standing behind a giant easel with a brush in one hand and a paint palette in the other. It hit me like a bolt of inspiration—I wanted to be an artist. Sure, my painting skills weren’t top-tier, and I still remember my professor gently nudging me toward exploring other mediums like graphic design. But my passion for art had always been there, from my early days in elementary school right through college.

One pivotal moment in high school stands out: when a family friend took me to work for the afternoon and introduced me to the world of Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. That was my first taste of digital art, and it was an unforgettable moment in my childhood.
After graduating from UNH with a degree in business administration, I took a bold step. Instead of pursuing a job in my field of study, I went back to school to pursue a certificate in graphic design. Soon after, I launched my career in graphic arts, designing everything from logos and business cards, to murals and vehicle graphics and even websites. But even then, I hesitated to call myself an artist. After all, I wasn’t the stereotypical painter with a canvas and brushes—I was using a mouse and keyboard.

Fast forward a few years, as a new mom, I picked up a camera to document the precious moments of my growing family. At first, I told myself that I was “just a mom with a camera,” still unable to see myself as an artist. But as I honed my photography skills and began taking on paid photography sessions—I started to realize my joy for this medium as well.

It wasn’t until I joined the Elena S Blair Mastermind coaching program recently that everything changed. Through Elena’s guidance and encouragement, I finally embraced the title of artist. She helped me see that artistry isn’t confined to a specific medium—it’s about the passion, the creativity, and the heart you pour into your craft.
So here I am, proudly proclaiming: I AM AN ARTIST. Whether I’m designing on a computer or capturing moments through my lens, I am creating art. And that, my friends, is something truly extraordinary.
