Privacy and Image Use in Wedding Photography

Uncategorized, Wedding

When it comes to your wedding day, privacy is a top priority. You’ve entrusted me to capture the. moment from the biggest most exciting day of your life, and I take that responsibility seriously. I understand that many couples are concerned about how their images will be used or shared after the wedding. Whether it’s posting on social media or using them in a portfolio, privacy concerns are completely valid. Here’s how I ensure your photos are safe and used exactly the way you want them to be.

1. Understanding Your Concerns: Why Privacy Matters

Your wedding day is one of the most significant moments of your life, and the photos taken are deeply personal. Many couples worry about how their images will be shared, whether on social media, in advertisements, or in other public spaces. Some may have specific cultural or personal reasons for keeping their images private. It’s completely understandable that you would want to control how your wedding memories are shared.

2. Clear Policies and Communication

From the moment we start working together, I want to make sure you’re comfortable with how your photos will be used. Transparency is key. I clearly outline my image policies in our contract so you know exactly what to expect. My goal is always to respect your wishes and ensure that we’re on the same page when it comes to sharing or showcasing your wedding photos.

3. The Difference Between Model Release, Permissions, and Copyright

There are some key legal concepts that are important to understand when it comes to image use. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Model Release
A model release is where you, the clients, give me explicit permission to use their wedding photos for promotional purposes such as on my website, social media, or in my portfolio. This release helps me showcase my work while respecting your consent. I always seek permission before sharing any photos publicly. You’re always in control of this process.
  • Permissions
Permissions are simply your consent to share images. You can choose whether you’re okay with your photos being posted on social media or used in other ways. I respect your wishes for either way.
  • Copyright
As the photographer, I hold the copyright to the images I create. This means that I have the legal right to reproduce, sell, or license the photos. However, you, as my client, have the right to use your images for personal purposes; sharing with family, printing for your home, or using them in personal albums. It’s important to note that while you own the prints of your images, the copyright remains with me unless otherwise agreed upon.

4. Consent for Promotional Use

I believe in getting your explicit consent before using any photos for promotional purposes. I offer flexibility in how your images can be used:

  • Full consent: You’re okay with me using all images for my portfolio, social media, and website.
  • Limited consent: You prefer only certain images or specific photos to be shared.
  • Opt-out: If you prefer that no images be shared publicly, I respect that completely.

5. Protecting Sensitive Content

For additional security, I use password-protected galleries and private online albums to ensure only the people you choose can view your photos. You’ll have complete control over who has access to your images. If you’d like to share your wedding photos with friends and family, you can choose who gets the gallery link. This way, your images remain safe and only shared with those you trust.

6. Why Trust Is Key

Trust is the foundation of a great photographer-client relationship. By respecting your privacy and providing transparency about image usage, I want to build that trust from day one. When you feel confident that your wishes will be honored, you can focus on enjoying your special day without the worry of how your photos will be used.

It’s an honor to capture these memories for you, and I want to ensure that you feel secure and comfortable with how your photos are handled after your wedding.

At the end of the day, your wedding photos are your memories, and it’s important that you feel in control of how they’re shared and used. I’m committed to respecting your privacy and will always take the time to understand your preferences about image use. If you ever have concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out before, during, or after the wedding. I’m here to help!

If you’re ready to discuss your photography needs and learn more about my approach to privacy and image use, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Let’s make sure your wedding day memories are captured beautifully, safely, and on your terms.

North Conway Wedding Venues: Becca + Michael’s Cranmore Mountain Celebration

Uncategorized, Wedding

When Becca and Michael began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted a day that blended elegance, fun, and a connection to their family and friends. Although they live in California, their decision to tie the knot at Cranmore Mountain Resort in North Conway, NH, was a tribute to their loved ones from the area. This unforgettable fall wedding perfectly highlighted why Cranmore Mountain Resort is one of the most breathtaking North Conway wedding venues.

Becca + Michael’s Multicultural Celebration at Cranmore Mountain Resort

Becca and Michael’s wedding day was full of personal touches and meaningful traditions. Their ceremony was a beautiful blend of cultures, with a close friend from Israel leading Jewish wedding traditions, and Michael’s sister incorporating Baha’i traditions into the ceremony. The couple’s vows were a mix of sentimental, funny, and emotional moments that had everyone laughing and tearing up.

The reception was nothing short of spectacular. Guests were treated to heartfelt speeches from the Maid of Honor and Best Man, a first dance that Becca and Michael had choreographed to perfection and put a smile on everyone’s face. The evening reached its peak with the Hora, as family and friends joined in the joyful celebration.

Breathtaking Views and a Golden Hour Ceremony

Fall in North Conway is nothing short of magical, and Cranmore Mountain Resort delivered an incredible backdrop of vibrant orange, yellow and red foliage. The couple and their guests took a chairlift up to the mountain summit for a ceremony that showcased views of the town below.

After exchanging their vows, Becca and Michael hosted a cocktail hour during golden hour at the summit. My favorite shot of the day was capturing their epic kiss atop a rock, framed by the radiant fall colors. For a mid-October day, the weather was surprisingly warm and clear, making it the perfect setting to soak in the stunning scenery.

Why Cranmore Mountain is a Top Choice for North Conway Wedding Venues

Cranmore Mountain’s versatility makes it a standout among North Conway wedding venues. Above all, the newly built ski lodge seamlessly transitions into a reception space, offering a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. Guests enjoyed an incredible meal catered by Cranmore Mountain and danced the night away to live music from @coverstoryentertainment.

From the unparalleled mountain views to the warm, inviting vibe of the venue, Cranmore Mountain provided the perfect setting for Becca and Michael’s celebration.

Shoutout to the Amazing Vendor Team

Creating this unforgettable day took a talented team of vendors:

In conclusion, Becca and Michael’s Cranmore Mountain wedding truly showcased the beauty and charm of this incredible location. If you’re planning your big day and looking at North Conway wedding venues, Cranmore Mountain is a must-see.

What Time of Day is Best for Outdoor Photos?

Engagment, Family, Seniors, Uncategorized

As a professional photographer, I understand the importance of timing in outdoor photography. The right time of day can transform your photos from ordinary to extraordinary. Whether you’re planning a family photoshoot, an engagement session, or senior portraits, choosing the perfect timing is crucial. So, what time of day is best for outdoor photos in New Hampshire? In this blog post, I’ll share the best times of day for different types of outdoor sessions and provide insights to help you make the most of your photoshoot.

What Time of Day is Best for Outdoor Photos: Sunrise and Sunset

Sunset Photos: Capturing the Golden Hour

What Time to Start for Sunset Photos

Sunset is one of the most popular times for outdoor photography, and for good reason. The hour before the sun dips below the horizon, known as the golden hour, gives everything in a warm, soft light that’s incredibly flattering for family photos, engagement sessions, and senior portraits.

Ideal Starting Time: We typically start about an hour before sunset. This timing allows us to capture the beautiful changing light and ensure a variety of stunning shots.

Sunrise Photos: Embracing the Morning Glow

What Time to Start for Sunrise Photos

Sunrise offers a magical light that’s often softer and cooler compared to sunset. Plus, you usually have the added bonus of fewer people around, making for more peaceful and intimate photos

Ideal Starting Time: We usually start about 20-30 minutes before sunrise. This allows us to capture the changing light from pre-dawn to the actual sunrise.

Overcast Days: Making the Most of Soft Light

What Time to Start if it’s Overcast

Overcast days can actually be a blessing for outdoor photography. The clouds act as a giant diffuser, creating even, soft light that’s perfect for photos.

Ideal Time of Day: We can shoot at any time during an overcast day, but mid-morning to late afternoon is often best to avoid the flat light of midday.

One disadvantage of doing a photo shoot on an overcast day is that the dull, gray skies can make colors in the photos appear muted and less vibrant. The lack of direct sunlight often results in lower contrast and saturation, giving the photos a flat and lifeless look. This can be especially challenging if you’re aiming for bright, vivid images. Choosing outfits with bold colors can really liven up your photos on an overcast day. Cloudy Days: Embracing the Dramatic Skies

What Time to Start if it’s Cloudy

Cloudy days, unlike fully overcast days, can provide dramatic lighting and interesting contrasts. The changing light and patterns can add a dynamic element to your photos.

Ideal Time of Day: Late afternoon to early evening is often best as the clouds can create striking effects with the setting sun.

What Time of Day is Best for Outdoor Photos at the Beach?

Best Time of Day for Photos on the Beach on the East Coast

Beaches on the East Coast are ideal for sunrise photos because the sun rises directly over the ocean, offering a breathtaking backdrop and a warm, golden glow that enhances your images. If you’re wondering what time of day is best for outdoor photos at the beach, then sunrise is what you want. Sunrise provides that soft, flattering illumination that makes photos look magical and beautiful.

In contrast, sunset sessions on the East Coast may not offer the same visual impact. Since the sun sets over the land rather than the ocean, it can be challenging to capture both a stunning backdrop and flattering light The light at sunset might not reflect as beautifully off the water, which can result in less dramatic lighting and a less vibrant background. This difference in timing and lighting can significantly affect the overall look of your beach photos.

Ideal Times:

  • Sunrise: We’ll start right at sunrise or just before to capture the changing light and the sun rising over the ocean.
  • Sunset: Best time to start your session is 1 hour before sunset.

Choosing the right time of day for your outdoor photoshoot can greatly impact the final results. Whether you’re aiming for the warm glow of the golden hour, the soft light of an overcast day, or the dramatic effects of a cloudy sky, timing is crucial. What time of day is best for outdoor photos? You must consider these factors when planing your family photoshoot, engagement session, or senior portraits.

I am an Artist.

Uncategorized

I vividly recall the moment back in college, standing behind a giant easel with a brush in one hand and a paint palette in the other. It hit me like a bolt of inspiration—I wanted to be an artist. Sure, my painting skills weren’t top-tier, and I still remember my professor gently nudging me toward exploring other mediums like graphic design. But my passion for art had always been there, from my early days in elementary school right through college.

One pivotal moment in high school stands out: when a family friend took me to work for the afternoon and introduced me to the world of Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. That was my first taste of digital art, and it was an unforgettable moment in my childhood.

After graduating from UNH with a degree in business administration, I took a bold step. Instead of pursuing a job in my field of study, I went back to school to pursue a certificate in graphic design. Soon after, I launched my career in graphic arts, designing everything from logos and business cards, to murals and vehicle graphics and even websites. But even then, I hesitated to call myself an artist. After all, I wasn’t the stereotypical painter with a canvas and brushes—I was using a mouse and keyboard.

Fast forward a few years, as a new mom, I picked up a camera to document the precious moments of my growing family. At first, I told myself that I was “just a mom with a camera,” still unable to see myself as an artist. But as I honed my photography skills and began taking on paid photography sessions—I started to realize my joy for this medium as well.

It wasn’t until I joined the Elena S Blair Mastermind coaching program recently that everything changed. Through Elena’s guidance and encouragement, I finally embraced the title of artist. She helped me see that artistry isn’t confined to a specific medium—it’s about the passion, the creativity, and the heart you pour into your craft.

So here I am, proudly proclaiming: I AM AN ARTIST. Whether I’m designing on a computer or capturing moments through my lens, I am creating art. And that, my friends, is something truly extraordinary.
